The accomplished designer, Peter Copping, has been appointed the new Artistic Director of the French heritage house Lanvin. Known for his feminine designs, Copping is expected to bring a personal touch to Lanvin from September. This marks a new start for the company as they have not had a runway show since March 2023 for Autumn/Winter 2023 following the departure of Bruno Sialelli in April 2023.

Deputy CEO of Lanvin, Siddhartha Shukla, made a statement about the decision on Thursday, “Peter Copping’s arrival at Lanvin is an important milestone in the renaissance of the great French maisons,”.

As the former head of womenswear at Louis Vuitton designer, Copping already has a host of high profile appointments under his belt. Starting his career at Sonia Rykiel, he went on to work alongside Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton, moving to Nina Ricci as creative direction in 2009 where he ultimately went on to be the creative director of Oscar de la Renta in 2014 to 2016. Since then Copping has worked as the head of couture at Balenciaga, the most recent couture show held on 26 June was the last he will work on for the house.

The Central Saint Martins graduate is expected to bring great things to the heritage house and we cannot wait for Lanvin to return to our fashion week schedules.
